Well, after weeks of procrastinating, here I am! I always underestimate the magnetic pull of January’s lethargy, and this year it’s hitting me hard. The good news is, looking at images of diseased trees, coronary angiograms and branching, shadowy limbs and thinking about how the patterns in the body are the patterns of nature helps light a small fire under my ass when the apathy begins to settle in. So there’s a little life hack for you.
This month, it’s pretty much burls all the way down, with a couple of exceptions. I’ve been concocting a little internal Venn diagram between angiogram scans, wood grain, and branching patterns in trees, so in one way or another all of these images have something in common. As always, I am happily taking custom requests, and even am offering a discount for anyone interested in getting “the arm” (the talking tree in the Black Lodge) tattooed in honor of the passing of one of our titans of decay. RIP David Lynch, I feel it’s safe to assume that it was just as difficult to take a walk in the woods with you as it is with me because you would likely also be stopping every two seconds to point out some interesting wood grain or texture.
I have 4 dates available this month: February 16th, 18th, 19th, and 23rd.
You can submit your proposal for one of these flash pieces or a custom here.
Really excited about each image in this month’s collection and, as always, looking forward to bringing these images to life on skin.
Warmly,
Sev
