Hello from beyond the substack grave! I’m excited to be reviving this account, and to be doing things a bit differently this time around.
As you may have seen on my instagram, I am slowly bracing for re-entry into the world of tattooing, albeit on an extremely limited basis. If you weren’t privy to this information, surprise!
I wanted everyone who subscribes to this newsletter to be the first to know, and the first to be able to book with me.
Some necessary details:
I will be booking three dates in December: the 1st, 8th, and 15th. These are all Sundays for ease of scheduling. I will also be tattooing out of a studio in New Haven- one that might be familiar for those of you on this mailing list who have gotten work from my friend Rex.
I am prioritizing customs this time around. I would love to be the instrument through which your vision comes alive, and want this work to be a fully collaborative process. That being said, thematically there are things I would really love to do and imagery that I’m not interested in at this time.
-I am interested as ever in depictions of decay in nature, textural disintegration, ancient life, marine oddities, and other such aesthetic evocations of eternity vs impermanence. I am also happy to work with geological imagery, rocks and stones, and interesting and unique depictions of plant and animal life that are significant or talismanic to the individual. I have a current personal focus on patterning of disease in tree bark that I would also love to explore.
-At this time, I am not particularly interested in industrial decay or rust. I would certainly be open to receiving proposals regarding tattooing images of significant personal collected items, which is imagery I have worked with before, but for the most part my current interest lies in naturally occurring subject matter.
My ultimate goal with this work is to help you adorn your body as an altar to its own impermanence. Any and all ideas which resonate with that goal are welcome!
I have also changed my pricing to appropriately reflect the amount of labor and energy which goes into this work. Being that these sessions will be extremely deliberate and exist to create singular, bespoke work, please be aware that I will not currently be accepting budgets under $500.
If you want to submit a proposal for December, please fill out this form.
I’m looking forward to dipping a toe back in this winter!
Thanks for sticking around.
Best wishes in yet another season of great change,
Seven
PS and personal Life Development Housekeeping Note: Despite my return to this medium, I will not be keeping up with this substack in the way that I used to, re: writing about nature and how it relates to my flash subject matter. Most of my time and energy as a writer is now devoted to my practice as a professional astrologer and diviner (which was a significant part of the reason for my tattooing hiatus). You can find many of those writings here or to a more regular extent, here, as well as more information about that part of my practice if you feel compelled or curious as to what I have spent the last two years doing.
